I’ve been struggling writing this post. I kept writing it in my head but couldn’t get myself to type it out. I think it’s because I haven’t reached my “goal” yet, but in honor of finishing my 60 days of INSANITY Max:30, it might be worthwhile to talk about the process and celebrate my progress, even though I’m still not back to my pre-pregnancy body. And I’m not sure if I ever will be since things like wider hips just might be here to stay. Really, I’m OK with that since I’ve had curves my entire life. Why not a little more?
My whole life I’ve always been in pretty good shape, but I didn’t start to really workout until I found Beachbody in 2012 (read my story here). The first program of choice was INSANITY and I’m proud to say I crushed the entire 60 days.
Then I played around with Les Mills Combat, 21 Day Fix and T25. The picture below was taken a couple weeks before I found out I was pregnant. I was doing Chalene’s program, PiYo –a mix of pilates and yoga.
My first trimester was by far the worst of all three. My energy levels were nonexistent and I had nausea ALL day. I would go from the bed to the couch, and from the couch back to bed. Most smells were repulsing so my diet mostly consisted of crackers and tea.
Second trimester was the best. I was finally working out, enjoying eating at restaurants, and beginning to grow a cute little baby bump.
And then trimester #3 came… Boy was I MISERABLE. Energy levels were low again and as a result, I started working out less and eating a lot more. Like anything I wanted.
Don’t mind me… I’m just gonna enjoy a little slice of cake… or two.
When Will arrived it was a total game changer. My focus was 100% on my son and my husband and celebrating these precious days as a new family. And so, I kept eating. And eating. And eating until I looked like this:
My sister-in-law uploaded this picture on Facebook during their visit to meet Will. I WAS MORTIFIED! And then in total denial. I kept showing it to Pete saying, “I don’t look like this, right? RIGHT!?”
“No, not at all!” —Thanks, Babe.
Soon after there was another family reunion. And yet another mortifying tag.
A few weeks later Pete got called up to play in Graz, Austria. I told him, “As soon as we get there, I’m working out again!”
Once I recovered from the jet lag, I was pushing play with INSANITY Max:30. Two months later, I was 12 pounds pounds lighter and so was my hair! –Loving the platinum blonde btw!
So month one I lost 8 pounds. The second month I hit a plateau and kept going up and down a few pounds. By day 60 the scale said 12 pounds. This was 12 pounds of pure workout, no nutrition guide was followed, but I did try to eat somewhat healthy (again, somewhat).
However, the new challenge I’m currently taking on is all about learning how to eat clean. I’m SURE you’ve all heard of it –it’s the 21 Day Fix and guess what? Today (Tuesday, October 12, 2015) I’m on day three! The first day was tough, but what I absolutely love this program is that it takes all the guesswork out of clean eating. No weighing or counting calories. Just fill your favorite foods in the colored containers and you’re good to go.
Just three days in, I’ve lost FOUR pounds. Most of it is probably water weight, but that’s good enough reason for me to keep pushing! The creator, Autumn Calabrese, says your body body will change every single day with this program. And I can tell you firsthand this statement is so true! I have to admit, eating three containers of veggies has been no walk in the park. As many of you know, I’m not a big veggie eater –in fact I rarely eat them, which is why I drink Shakeology.
Wanna join me? I’m creating a super small, super private Facebook group of just 3-5 girls that want to do this same program with me. In this group, I’ll be creating new content, encouraging each other, sharing recipes, and documenting my own journey with you.
The way 21 Day Fix works is simple—it’s a combination of portion control eating along with 30-minute workouts. That’s it!
I can assure you WON’T be hungry. In fact, you’ll be amazed at how much food you eat in this program. You also won’t be cutting out your favorite foods –like chocolate and wine!
The workouts are varied and easy to follow, so no matter what your fitness level is, you can keep up and see amazing results.
To stay motivated, I’m giving winner of this challenge Autumn Calabrese’s recipe book FIXATE. This will go to the girl that participates the most and has the greatest transformation in 21 days!
